The power supply is ok, data wire I tried on several pins 2, 4, 16, nothing, the problem is that the strip does not respond to commands at all, the colors light up randomly, different sections, sometimes all, sometimes half.
I entered the settings, where I modified numerous functions, the number of LEDs, sections, still nothing
Could the problem be with the led strip, the fact that it is addressable in 5 cm sections?
Should my esp version be changed?
Or is it a different pin?
Do you have common ground (-) connections between the MCU, DC Power supply and LED strip?
Did you select the correct GPIO in LED Preferences for the one you are using on the MCU?
Correct GPIO in LED settings, yes
Common ground, no, i will try, but I don’t see why this would be a problem, the led strip has a separate power supply, and the esp comes powered via usb, only data cable cames to mcu.
@alex25 hope you’ll see my message! I’ve got the same problem, but i’ve got a buck converter in between, so i’ve got DC Power → buck converter → ESP32 → Level shifter → led data pin
Does your answer means that all my grounds need to be connected? like power supply, buck out, esp ground, level shifter ground and led ground needs to all be connected to each other?
Short answer is Yes.
One of the simpler ways to make sure this is case, make your data connection to the strip with a dedicated pair of lighter wires. Use one for the data connection from the levelshifter to the strip and one from the levelshifter ground to the strip ground.
