How do I define a matrix?

Hi everyone, I’m very new to WLED and coding in general.

I’m planning to make a matrix of 15x15 WS2812B, controlled with a nodemcu V3.

Where do I define that the pixels are in a grid and not a strip?

Thanks in advance, the app looks great

Not implemented yet. But it’s in the work.

You can do it if you control the matrix using software called XLights. This will control the nodemcu over E131 protocol that WLED provides. XLights has custom config for a matrix, plenty of videos on youtube for this.

Aaahhh, thank you so much. I thought I was being stupid and missing something.

I installed xLights last night as it happens, talk about a learning curve

If I map the LEDs with xLights, can I then use the WLED effects on the matrix? I’m guessing not…

I thought I’d dip my toe with a ESP8266 and some LED tape, I had no idea how deep the rabbit hole could be :joy:

You swap between WLED controlling the lights and Xlights. When XLights is sending out data it gives a message on the WLED page to say its being controlled remotely, as soon as Xlights is stopped outputting you can then use WLED settings again.

Is there any update on the status of this feature? Or a specific feed to follow re: updates?

Developers is working on it as of right now. Hopefully it’s will be in v0.12
