Trying to get IR to work with WLED on a Dig Uno board that is being driven by an ESP32
I had installed 13.3 SR with a digital mic and SR was working. Tried setting up a IR but that was a no go - JUST found out VIA this forum that IR is disabled on that firmware. I have zero knowledge on how to enable it so in the meantime i thought i would try another firmware out but none of them are working with IR (13.3 (No SR) and 14)
The pinout for the dig uno I have it connected to is Q1 (GPIO 15) and the settings reflect. I have selected a 44key remote in the WLED settings drop down; purchased a 44key IR (verified working with camera test) and a IR receiver TSOP38238. Tried both 3v and 5v
Preferably I want both IR and SR enabled - any suggestions…?
If anyone stumbles upon this on their quest to get IR to work… I got my issue resolved… but… how… i dont know… i really dont…
Here is one keystone of advice that i swear i did - Move it to 3v. Even though the the IR receiver is rated for 2-5v’s I tested and verified it ONLY worked on the 3v. At first i thought it had to due with the “Pull Low / Pull High” GPIOS (which i dont understand what low / high means so if someone could point me to some literature or tell me what that means, please do) but i moved it to every GPIO after the first successful attempt and everyone GPIO worked. So i figured i would see if it was the 3v VS 5v, nothing worked on 5v… The only thing i can think of is maybe my dupont connectors werent making the greatest connection but nothing was fiddled with them while trouble shooting.
Side Note: This was on 0.13.3 Toki (Not SR)… thats going to be my next leap, SR and IR at the same time.
Did you ever figure out IR and SR togeather? I just upgraded my kids bunk-beds to SR and have spent WAY too long wondering WTH the IR’s I gave them didn’t work.
What problems are you running into with it? What hardware are you using (controller board, IR controller, IR diodes)? Have you verified the remote works (get a cell phone camera and look at the video on the phone while pushing/holding buttons on the remote - should see it blink)? Verified settings in WLED (Config (gear icon) > LED Preferences > Find - IR GPIO (should be setup for the right IR GPIO and remote type))
