Playlist inquiry -- Turning off (as end preset) without color flash

Hey all,

Playing lately with effect combinations in the playlist to, for example, use “wipe” to fill a strip with color, then transition seamlessly to a solid color state. Has worked well so far, but I am struggling with one thing.

Essentially, is it possible to create a clean “one-shot” animation?

A concrete example: the dissolve effect walks in a color, pauses for a moment, then walks it back out. Left to its own devices, this repeats. In a playlist I figured I could time a “turn-off” command (as the “end preset”) when the LEDs are not displaying anything, thus getting a “clean” shutdown and one-shot animation.

Unfortunately, calling any kind of “off” preset results in an undesirable flash.

In essence, I just want the “end preset” to be the off state, but I don’t see any immediate way to accomplish this.

Does this make sense? Has anyone found a workaround?

if you can use the same Fx (1 or foreground) color on both presets and there should be no flash

You’re a champ.

That works perfectly. I just took the dissolve preset, duplicated it but in the “off” state, and set that as the “end preset”.

Thanks!

It’s the color slots that matter. Effect is less important.
