Question about SN74HCT245N

Good afternoon gentlemen. Thank you to everyone for your posts, creations & input. I have spent quite a bit of time reading before I ask this question. I know only enough to be dangerous regarding WLED.

My question is since the SN74HCT245N is an 8 channel level shifter, can it be used by 8 different Wemos D1 Mini Pros D4 pin (or any Node MCU for that matter) and shift them all to the proper 5V signal to 8 different LED strips? All 8 WS2812 strips would total approximately 20 meters and all items would share one power supply with all grounds tied together.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Why not use a smaller one on each?

You can also use one of the the beta branches to get multiple pins per ESP.

I would say use 74AHCT125 with ESP8266 for 4 strips or ESP32 with 74AHCT245 for 8 strips.

That’s an interesting thought. The idea behind using individual d1 minis is so that each one can be controlled either by the WLED built in patterns or addressed individually through Vixen.
