Hello WLED community, this is my first post here - where I’d like to share an easy retrofit project.
Discounter Netto here in southern Germany had a really nice offer this week for a table lamp, for just 12,99€ (not affiliated). I instantly liked that design very much, so I just couldn’t resist buying it - and try to convert it to WLED! Fortunately, my order from Ali Express also arrived this week, so I got a small controller to tinker with, and also some USB-C sockets.
Here’s the original lamp with some details showing how the LED strips (2x 30 WS2812B) are connected:
Retrofitting that lamp was absolutely simple; even without soldering. Just cutting the wires to the original controller, enlarging the hole for the USB-C socket, and installing the new WLED controller:
Even though that’s a metal case, the WiFi signal is still OK.
And here’s the final result:
It turned out pretty well, in particular because the strips may be addressed individually. And the controller even has a mic, so audioreactive is also possible!
