Unfortunately those aren’t added GPIOs, they’re serial to parallel output shift registers.
Excellent for things like relays and on/off lights, but not really suitable for variable data streams driving LEDs.
But hey, someone could prove me wrong…

I am not sure that is practical . Also I think PCF8574 is supported but could not find the usermod for it
