I just got a couple ESP8266 based LED strip controllers from Electrodragon
They are less than ideal in that they don’t have a level shifter or a resistor on the data line, but they do work with WS2182b, etc. They are an alternative to flashing a budget commercial ESP controller with the advantage of having proper pin headers for programming and 4MB flash.
The data pin is IO2 so they work with the recommended precompiled firmware.
Actually, they do have a level shifter, but its slow and only used to drive MOSFETs for controlling dumb RGBW strips.
Anyway, its an option, and I figured I’d share info in case anyone else was wondering about them.
