Help with a Jinx configuration for a 20x20 matrix?

Hi,
I have created a [20x20] matrix in WLED using two
vertically stacked [20x10] arrays. The first LED
in each physical array is in the Lower Left corner
and goes Up and is in a Serpentine configuration.

This works perfectly in WLED! All demos including
Scrolling Text work great.

I’m now trying drive this display using Jinx through
the DMX interface.

Jinx Can successfully communicate with my device…and send data.

But I can’t get the mapping correct. I have tried many
different configurations with many variations, here are two:

  1. Three Universes:
    8x20x3 = 480 channels
    8x20x3 = 480 channels
    4x20x3 = 240 channels

  2. Four Universes:
    10x10x3 = 300 channels
    10x10x3 = 300 channels
    10x10x3 = 300 channels
    10x10x3 = 300 channels

All have holes in the resulting display (I can be more specific
if anyone wants the details)… or wrapped mapping… also, X and Y
seem to be reversed.

Is there any guide for DMX mapping in Jinx with WLED?
Should this work with the physical layout of my matrix?
Are there physical matrix layouts that WLED supports that
cannot be represented in Jinx?

Any help is appreciated…

WLED presents (to the outside world) matrix as a virtual strip of X by Y pixels in a non serpentine, top-left to bottom-right arrangement.
Configure such arrangement in your external software.

The config i am using for 16x32 and jinx file is attached ,I have seen a lot of guys also complain about jinx and wled ( the trick was to remove Serpentine and test orientation even if it is the correct setting when using wled alone) ,you can experiment by having jinx active with text effect and change the 2D page config ( ignore the real time note you get from wled ) . I recall i have done that before with Serpentine but no longer sure i still have the file . You can also setup wled in 1D for a workaround or better try in xlights with DDP as it is much better then jinx when the fixture is setup in 2D and none square . Good luck and keep in mind that you can configure your fixture in multiple ways

Thanks for your reply…it helped me get past my issues!

Thank you so much for your excellent/detailed reply!

Is “xlights” the current go-to (state of the art) package I should be using for Christmas displays?
Thanks again!

Unlike jinx Xlights is open and updated more frequently , it is for sure better then jinx ( there are no updates for jinx since few years ) but it might be a bit involved and needs time investment and yes it is the go to tool for Christmas display so it is worth the effort
